Try This Toilet Cleaning Spray Recipe Today!

I know that toilet cleaning is the most neglected chore out there! Why? People simply hate cleaning their toilets! I did hate cleaning mine as well, however, since it’s so important for the hygiene of my home I needed to find an easy way to deal with it.

Since I am a huge fan of DIY cleaning recipes I figured there is a homemade toilet cleaner recipe out there using natural ingredients! I started searching the internet and I did come across different ones, however, there weren’t any that peaked my interest. They were boring and non-creative. So I knew I had to take the matter into my own hands and create my own recipe!

I Started Experimenting

Usually, mostly commercial cleaners are mainly scented bleach as I like to call it. Basically, chlorine bleach and a lot of strong scents to mask that chemical smell. I, however, am not a fan of bleach or commercial cleaners so I had to think of something as strong as bleach but less harmful. I had to think of a powerful natural disinfectant!

I also decided that I want my toilet cleaner to be in liquid form and placed in a spray bottle. That way you can easily use it by spraying it all over the toilet, leaving it for a few minutes so that it can disinfect properly and deal with any build-up, and then simply flush the toilet. I wanted to stay as far away as possible from any powders that would require me to scrub the toilet for hours!

Here Is What I Came Up With!

The first important ingredient in our toilet cleaner is white vinegar. It deals with germs, it also absorbs nasty odours, it’s completely safe and non-toxic, and it’s strong!

Then the second thing we need is borax. I thought of baking soda, however, we all know that baking soda and vinegar do not mix well so what is something similar? Borax! The borax helps the vinegar be less acidic.

Then we need Castile soap – one of the best natural cleaners out there!

Last but not least – essential oils! I like using ones that have antibacterial properties – tea tree oil, lavender. Not only will they leave your bathroom smelling amazing but will deal with germs!

Now, mix everything in a spray bottle and you are done!

  • A cup of white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of Castile soap
  • 10 drops from each essential oil
  • 1/4 cup of Borax
